Terri's Fight

Today, in the State of Florida?s fight to save the life of Terri Schiavo, the U.S. Supreme Court has decided to throw the ball back into the Florida Supreme Court?s lap who can't wait to sign her death warrant. This appears to be a major legal blow for this poor woman who has endured so much in her fight to keep her life.

According to an AP story on FNC?s website?

The Supreme Court did not comment in rejecting an appeal from Gov. Jeb Bush, who argued that the state had the authority to step in and pass the 2003 law that ordered Terri Schiavo's feeding tube reinserted six days after her husband had it removed.

Which, BTW saved the woman from a horribly painful death by starvation. How would you like to be sentenced to death by starvation especially when the only thing you?re guilty of is being married to total shmuck.

"It's judicial homicide. They want to murder her," her father, Robert Schindler (search), said Monday. "I have no idea what the next step will be. We're going to fight for her as much as we can fight for her. She deserves a chance."

?and rightly so!

I remember reading a column by Ann Coulter more than a year ago where she raises many of the same issues that I?ve also felt to be quite interesting with respect to this case.

- She is in a permanent vegetative state; no she's not.

- She is unconscious and does not react to stimuli; yes she does.
- She will never get any better; yes she will.
- She would not have wanted to be kept on a feeding tube; you don't know that.

Eye witness accounts and video evidence give testimony to these facts.

The more I learn about this case, the more I am inclined to believe that this Michael Schivo character is a totally rotten bastard. He's been fighting for years now trying to yank the life out from under this poor girl and has all but totally moved on with his life without her. He's already got a new bed warmer and two new kids outside of his legal marriage. All he needs to do now is get rid of the old baggage in order to legitimately consummate his long awaited new matrimony and then reap the financial rewards of Terri?s estate after she?s dead.

I feel so deeply that there is much more to this tragic story than meets the eye and I have the sneaking suspicion that Michael?s change of scenery was premeditated from the get-go. After her collapse into a coma from ?a medical condition? he claims that Terri never wanted to live in a vegetative state, but if she really felt that way wouldn?t she have written up a living will making her wishes known? Also, Terri?s family frequently recalls how she had such a strong love for life.

If the girl I married had an accident or a medical condition that put her in a comatose state, I'd be at that hospital every single day in prayer and servitude for her recovery. Miraculous cures have come about from the presence of a warm heart and a strong spirit and you make it your obligation to helping your other half continue to fight for survival and recovery. When you get married it's supposed to be for better or for worse, through sickness and in health until death do you part, but obviously this jerk's got bigger and better things on his mind.

Unfortunately, every time Terri?s parents and siblings try to bring her the warm heart and a strong spirit so callously denied by her husband, Michael seeks court orders against them. What a cold hearted bastard to deprive his wife ? much less a human being - of any such comfort or compassion. Why can?t he just get the courts to grant him a legal divorce, get the hell out of her life and allow those who really love her and care enough about her to help her get the fighting chance that she deserves.
