Today marks a very sorrowful day for millions of faithful Catholics and the silence in the news on the passing of Sister Lucia de Jesus dos Santos is deafening. Apart from a story listed by Reuters news service and posted by Michael Brown of Spirit Daily, there is no coverage otherwise in the MSM on the death of the last surviving seer of the Miracle of the Sun at Fatima, Portugal on October 13, 1917 where, before tens of thousands of onlookers ? believers and atheists alike ? the sun twirled and danced around the sky in an aural array of streaming beautiful colors. Sister Lucy was also well known as the sole currier of the famed Third Secret of Fatima which foretold of the rise and fall of Communism and the attempted assassination on the life of Pope John Paul II.
Not since the death of Mother Teresa of Calcutta has there been such a significant event in the history of Catholic Church. However, unlike Mother Teresa, Sister Lucy was a Carmelite nun where according to their traditions they lead a very cloistered life of prayer and devotion to Christ. None-the-less, she was world renowned for her direct involvement in the most famous miracle of the twentieth century, the receiver of several prophetic visions and the holder of the much sought after Third Secret given to her by the Blessed Virgin. So famous was she that even Mel Gibson went out of his way to get her a private screening of his blockbuster film "The Passion of the Christ."
As Michael Brown pointed out in his article, how befitting that she was taken from this world on the thirteenth of the month? the same day of the month where for several months during 1917, Mary appeared and spoke to three little children in a field at Fatima.
