THE 10 COMMANDMENTS
ARE TO GO BEFORE
THE SUPREME COURT TODAY!!!
Today the United States Supreme Court will begin hearing arguments from two similar cases to determine weather or not displaying the Ten Commandments on public property is constitutional. In one case from Kentucky, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals caved into the ACLU?s legal shakedown tactics which resulted in the removal of the Ten Commandments from the courthouses of both McCreary and Pulaski counties in a 2-1 decision on December 2003. Then, In the Texas case, however, a three-judge panel of the Fifth Circuit Court unanimously ruled that a six-foot-tall monument of the Ten Commandments on state capitol grounds was constitutional.
This is such an important day in court as we will finally hear this sitting Supreme Court?s interpretation of the establishment and free exercise clauses of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. If these Justices were true constructionists (and we already know that they are absolutely not), they would kick this case back to the state courts and reaffirm that the U.S. Constitution prohibits the federal government from having any jurisdictional authority over matters of religion. The Tenth Amendment effectively makes it a state?s rights issue.
For more than two years, Grassfire.org has been at the forefront of the battle to protect our constitutional right to publicly acknowledge God. Their efforts to save the Pledge of Allegiance, and the Ten Commandments has resulted in a groundswell of grassroots support from hundreds of thousands of citizens who are demanding their constitutional rights are protected and affirmed.
With the U.S. Supreme Court poised to decide the fate of the Ten Commandments, Grassfire is urging citizens to sign this petition to send a strong resonating message to Congress and the Courts to move to disallow these aggressive hate-filled attacks on our rights and religious symbols.
Grassfire will be in Washington during this historic case, and will be presenting petitions directly to the Court after featuring them at a National Press Club event, and rally in front of the Supreme Court on the morning of the case.
Please, take immediate action with me by joining the battle to protect our right to publicly acknowledge God. Raise your voice on this issue by adding your name to this national petition:
