Congratulations to Conservative President Nicolas Sarkozy and congratulations to the people of France for realizing the failure of the previous administration and refusing to hand control over to an extreme leftist who would have surely drove their country into complete ruin with her insane socialist policies.
Unfortunately, even though Drudge is quoting Sarkozy as saying to America that "YOU CAN COUNT ON FRANCE AS A FRIEND", the Reuters column he's posting appears to contradict the statement by pointing out the new President's declared opposition to the GWOT...
On foreign policy, Sarkozy is more pro-American than Chirac, but has made clear he opposes the war in Iraq and will find it hard to ally himself too closely to Washington because of anti-U.S. sentiment at home...

I am assuming that, by French standards, Sarkozy is about as conservative perhaps as John McCain by ours. Regardless, it is comforting to see that France is moving more to the right of its previous extreme leftist ways. Only time will tell.
