Has GW gone mad? What exactly does he hope to accomplish by pushing for passage of a bill that is both unrealistic and a total dismissal of previous laws that were supposed to protect our nation's sovereignty? By fighting for passage of this bill, all he's doing is weakening the sovereignty of our nation, forcing taxpayers to pay for their benefits, decreasing the number of available jobs for legitimate Americans, and splitting the Republican Party right down the middle. Up until now, I have been a fairly strong supporter of George Bush - not withstanding his uninformed views on global warming, but his stance on the illegal immigration issue is where I have to draw the line.
Z-Visas, Y-Visas, triggers, border security, touch backs, penalties, blah, blah, blah... The bottom line is that this bill will grant 20 million people who are in this country illegally, immediate legal status!!! That is absolutely unacceptable and is direct slap in the face to every legal citizen in this country and those in the rest of the world who are struggling through legal means to come here as well.
The only legislation that should be getting pushed through Congress is one that strengthens our borders with fencing, electronic surveillance, and a strong military presence, one that forces state and local municipalities into compliance with federal immigration guidelines, one that mandates stiff penalties for those who harbor or employ those who are here illegally, and one that demands immediate deportation of these people back to their country of origin without any possibility of ever returning to the United States unless their lives are threatened by severe reprisal from their home government ...AND NO MORE ACCEPTIONS FOR ANCHOR BABIES!!!
This is not rocket science, folks. If this bill gets passed into law, we might as well change our flag to that of a filthy welcome mat.
