I've lost my childhood hero :(

Growing up in the 70's was, for the most part, a real drag. Disco sucked, TV shows were as plastic as the polyester outfits folks wore back then, politicians were destroying the country and caused us to loose the war in Vietnam, LBJ's Great Society doomed us to decades of socialism, Nixon was too busy kissing communist China's ass, Ford didn't seam able to get anything accomplished due to a Democrat controlled congress, Carter caused taxes and gasoline to shoot up through the roof, NASA couldn't hold the space program together, and Muslims were begining to make a habit of hijacking jet liners and using terror to achieve their political goals. For me, the only things worth remembering from the 70's were muscle cars, rock and roll, and Evel Knievel.

Every time that guy pulled off a crazy stunt, we all sat glued to the edge of our seats praying for him to make it without killing himself and every time, although he didn't always make it safely to the other side of the jump, he lived to do it again another day (sometimes after months of healing and physical rehabilitation). Even after our 200th birthday party celebration ended, after we morned Elvis' death and after we prayed for the return of our loved ones taken hostage in Iran, we still had the amazing death defying stunts of Evel Knievel. In a big, big way, he represented and symbolized the bold determination of our country to weather the worst of times, get back on our feet, brush ourselves off and continue our fight to be the best that we can be and not be held back by our fears.

Evel Knievel was my childhood hero.

Rest in peace, Evel. You truly are a great American legend.

AAAARRRRGGGG!!!!!!!

Remember back a week ago I mentioned that I was working at putting up the outdoor lights? HA! Thought it would only take me a day? HA HA!! I was soooooo wroooooooooong!!! I started by untangling all the lights I put away in a box last year... day 1. Then I plugged in each string of lights to make sure they worked and repaired what didn't... day 2. Next, I hung them outside and literally froze my balls off. They worked for about 10 minutes then they ALL died... day 3.

"Not to worry, I'm a MAN, I can fix this."

I then replaced the little fuses in the plugs... they worked again... then died 10 minutes later, so I divided the run into three separate strings of lights, replaced the fuses and they worked. Well, almost. two strings of the icicle lights were out and using I couldn't figure out where the bad bulbs were using my volt/ohm meter... day 4. So finally, I stopped at the local hardware store, spent 7 bucks and change on one of those new light testers which ended up being pretty much worthless. In a final act of desperation I pulled each little light out, tested is and replaced about 2 dozen or so and, at last, they finally worked... day 5.

As I stood back and took the above picture, so proud of my hard work and determination to get-er-done, I noticed something odd. If you look at the icicle lights on the left, you'll notice that they are a little bit longer than the rest. Upon closer inspection, I realized that they were indeed a different string from the rest.

"F#@% IT!!! At 300 feet away from the road, who the hell's gonna know the difference!"

A Mesage for Brian DePalma

from the Good Ol' US of A!!!

*Wait for page to load for the rollover to work*

DE PALMA IRAQ FLICK BOMBS
Richard Johnson
Page Six - New York Post
November 25, 2007

IT'S hard for Hollywood pacifists like Brian De Palma to capture the hearts and minds of America if Americans won't see their movies. While the public is staying away in droves from “Rendition," “Lions for Lambs" and “In the Valley of Elah," audiences are really avoiding “Redacted," De Palma's picture about US soldiers who rape a 14-year-old Iraqi girl, then kill her and her family. The message movie was produced by NBA Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, who insisted on deleting grisly images of Iraqi war casualties from the montage at the film's end. Cuban offered to sell the film back to De Palma at cost, but the director was too smart to go for that deal. “Redacted" - which “could be the worst movie I've ever seen," said critic Michael Medved -took in just $25,628 in its opening weekend in 15 theaters, which means roughly 3,000 people saw it in the entire country. “This, despite an A-list director, a huge wave of publicity, high praise in the Times, The New Yorker, left-leaning sites like Salon, etc. A Joe Strummer documentary [of punk-rock band The Clash] playing in fewer theaters made more in its third week," e-mailed one cineaste. “Not even people who presumably agree with the movie's antiwar thesis made the effort to see it."

As per yesterday's statement, I stand corrected... there really is good substantive news out there after all! 'magine that!

Good news and bad news...

Which do you want to hear first?

I agree, it's always best to here the bad news first.

OK

First, the bad news...

My sincere condolences and sympathies to our allies neighbors in the land down under.

In a huge setback for Australia, Prime Minister John Howard was defeated in in the polls by Kevin Rudd - an Aussie RINO POS.

From The Sunday Times
November 25, 2007
New Australian PM signals Iraq pullout
Paul Ham, Sydney

AUSTRALIA’S new prime minister Kevin Rudd will mark his arrival on the international stage by announcing the withdrawal of his country’s combat troops from Iraq and signing the Kyoto treaty on climate change.

Rudd, a republican and former diplomat, swept to power as his Labor party stormed to a landslide victory in yesterday’s elections.

Official figures showed Labor had won more than 53% of the vote, compared with just under 47% for the ruling Liberal coalition of John Howard, who had served four terms as prime minister but lost his seat. Computer projections forecast that Labor would secure 86 seats in the 150-seat lower house of parliament.

Rudd, 50, who has been called a “Tone Clone” for his similarities to Tony Blair on policy, told cheering supporters that the electorate had decided to “write a new page in our nation’s history”.

Howard, who dominated Australia’s political scene for more than a decade, was accused of misreading the mood of voters who wanted change despite a booming economy.
*snip*

This guy, running as a Republican/Labor Party candidate, is beholden to the anti-war and environmentalist left wing in his country. I shudder to think of the new direction that country is headed and can't help but wonder if it's a harbinger of things to come in this country. Heaven help us!

And the good news???

Congratulations to Zed and Jan on the birth of their twin baby girls!!!

*I know it's just a cartoon. It's just that I'm having such a tough time finding much good substantive news these days, but look on the bright side...

CHRISTMAS IS ONLY A MONTH AWAY!!!

It's that time again!

After getting stuffed to the gills on turkey dinner (and getting about 12 hours of sleep), it's on to that annual labor intensive task of preparing for Christmas. I've already pulled out most of the decorations and tomorrow the tree goes up. With any luck we should get most of it done in one weekend, but I have my reservations. The temperature outside today was down in the mid 30's and I literally froze my balls off tying the fresh garland around the porch. Only one wreath is up, I have 3 more to go and I haven't even started the lights yet! Oh well, at least I had a good excuse to spend time decorating the website today. I'm even contemplating setting up a collection of Christmas tunes on the MoFiZiX MuZiX Jukebox. Just so you all know, as it has become an annual tradition here, I also put up the banner for my favorite Christmas charity...

The Marine Corps Reserve once again goes above and beyond the call of duty - as they have for the past 60 years - making sure that impoverished children have a something to smile about on Christmas morning. The happiness of opening Christmas gifts, we and our children take so much for granted, is a joy that every child should share. Please donate something, whatever little you can spare, and spread a little Christmas joy this holiday season. Thank you.

Giving Thanks

Even those of us who don't feel we have much to be thankful for should be aware that we here in America have it much better than most people in the rest of the world. Be thankful for the ability to worship our Heavenly Creator in the way we see fit, be thankful for life and be thankful for those who are there for us in times of need. Be thankful for the blessings that God has given to us, if not for anything else, then be thankful for the freedom we have to make our own choices in life and the ability to shape our own destiny.

Below, I have assembled three historic thanksgiving proclamations from American Presidents George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and George W. Bush (November 15, 2007). These great and powerful leaders of our nation were well aware of the importance in giving thanks to Almighty God for His protection and guidance. *I'll bet that causes Michael Newdow to get his panties in a bunch!*

WHEREAS it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favour; and Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me "to recommend to the people of the United States a DAY OF PUBLICK THANSGIVING and PRAYER, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:"

NOW THEREFORE, I do recommend and assign THURSDAY, the TWENTY-SIXTH DAY of NOVEMBER next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favorable interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed;-- for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enable to establish Constitutions of government for our sasety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted;-- for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge;-- and, in general, for all the great and various favours which He has been pleased to confer upon us.

And also, that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions;-- to enable us all, whether in publick or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have shewn kindness unto us); and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.

GIVEN under my hand, at the city of New-York, the third day of October, in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and eighty-nine.

(signed) G. Washington

Whereas, it is the duty of nations as well as of men to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions in humble sorrow yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon, and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history: that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord:

And, insomuch as we know that, by His divine law, nations like individuals are subjected to punishments and chastisement in this world, may we not justly fear that the awful calamity of civil war, which now desolates the land may be but a punishment inflicted upon us for our presumptuous sins to the needful end of our national reformation as a whole people?

We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven. We have been preserved these many years in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth and power as no other nation has ever grown.

But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious Hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own.

Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us!

It behooves us then to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins and to pray for clemency and forgiveness... All this being done, in sincerity and truth, let us then rest humbly in the hope authorized by the Divine teachings, that the united cry of the nation will be heard on high and answered with blessing no less than the pardon of our national sins and the restoration of our now divided and suffering country to its former happy condition of unity and peace.

Abraham Lincoln - March 30, 1863

Thanksgiving Day, 2007
A Proclamation by the President of the United States of America

Americans are a grateful people, ever mindful of the many ways we have been blessed. On Thanksgiving Day, we lift our hearts in gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy, the people we love, and the gifts of our prosperous land.

Our country was founded by men and women who realized their dependence on God and were humbled by His providence and grace. The early explorers and settlers who arrived in this land gave thanks for God's protection and for the extraordinary natural abundance they found. Since the first National Day of Thanksgiving was proclaimed by President George Washington, Americans have come together to offer thanks for our many blessings. We recall the great privilege it is to live in a land where freedom is the right of every person and where all can pursue their dreams. We express our deep appreciation for the sacrifices of the honorable men and women in uniform who defend liberty. As they work to advance the cause of freedom, our Nation keeps these brave individuals and their families in our thoughts, and we pray for their safe return.

While Thanksgiving is a time to gather in a spirit of gratitude with family, friends, and neighbors, it is also an opportunity to serve others and to share our blessings with those in need. By answering the universal call to love a neighbor as we want to be loved ourselves, we make our Nation a more hopeful and caring place.

This Thanksgiving, may we reflect upon the past year with gratefulness and look toward the future with hope. Let us give thanks for all we have been given and ask God to continue to bless our families and our Nation.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim Thursday, November 22, 2007, as a National Day of Thanksgiving. I encourage all Americans to gather together in their homes and places of worship with family, friends, and loved ones to reinforce the ties that bind us and give thanks for the freedoms and many blessings we enjoy.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this fifteenth day of November, in the year of our Lord two thousand seven, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-second.

Atheist renews challenge to 'under God'
Rejected by Supreme Court on technical grounds but finds new plaintiffs

California atheist activist Michael Newdow is renewing his fight to remove reference to God from the Pledge of Allegiance, this time with a suit filed on behalf of an anonymous New Hampshire couple against a school district.

The couple, an agnostic and atheist with three children, say in their complaint that they "generally, deny that God exists" and contend their constitutional rights are violated when school authorities require their children to "participate in making the purely religious, monotheistic claim that the United States is 'one nation under God.'"

Newdow previously sued over the inclusion of "under God" in the pledge, but his claims were rejected by the U.S. Supreme Court in 2004 on technical grounds. The self-described atheist said he did not want his third-grade daughter to have to listen to the phrase "under God" in a public school.

Five justices, however, found Newdow did not have the legal standing to bring the case. He never married the child's mother, who has expressed support for having "under God" in the pledge.

*snip*

I will give him this much, he is definitely one persistent, godless POS SOB. Hey, smart ass, if by any God-sanctioned miracle you are listening to me, let me sum it up for you here in the simplest terms possible: This country was founded on Judeo-Christian principles. Our heritage is based on the premise that our survival, and our success is due to the providence of that which is responsible for our very existence and keeps us from devolving into a smug pseudo-intellectual species governed by anarchy and conceitful arrogance. If you don't like it here and feel so threatened by something that is greater than you, there are still a few godless-communist countries left in the world that continue to enslave their citizens by mandating empty dogmas such as your own and I'm sure they would be glad to have you.

It's All About Defending Life

Today is a good day for the pro life movement. First is the earth-shattering report from stem cell researchers claiming that they now have the ability to fore go the destruction of human life through embryonic experimentation...

The Future Is Now
Stem-cell debate changes.
By Father Thomas Berg
National Review Online
November 20, 2007 9:19 AM

It’s called “reprogramming.”

Another technical term for it is “somatic cell dedifferentiation.” Just get those terms into your vocabulary because they’ll be around for the foreseeable future. As reported in two scientific papers published today, reprogramming is now the future of stem cell research and renders ethically controversial therapeutic cloning obsolete.

Ever since the debate of embryo-destructive stem-cell research began in earnest in 1998 when researchers at the University of Wisconsin first isolated human embryonic stem cells, we’ve known that the best overall answer to the ethical impasse would be a solution that both allows the search for stem-cell related cures to go foreword, while doing so without harming or destroying embryonic human life in the process.

We now have that solution.

Two major scientific papers published today in Science and Cell offer proof of principle research to show that it is possible to generate patient-matched pluripotent stem cells without human cloning and its attendant moral pitfalls: the need to harvest and use human eggs from female donors and the subsequent destruction of cloned human embryos. Both studies used reprogramming of adult human cells to generate stem cells known as “induced pluripotent state cells” (iPSCs) that have all the properties of human embryonic stem cells.

*snip*

Most of us in the pro-life movement have known for years that advancements in stem cell research would one day render the destruction of human embryos - the earliest stage of human life - obsolete. That day has arrived! Not only that, but there is also a report out that claims researchers have achieved an important breakthrough in the treatment of Parkinson's disease using gene therapy...

Breakthrough in Parkinson's gene therapy
By Roger Highfield, Science Editor

Last Updated: 10:01pm GMT 19/11/2007

Evidence that a breakthrough has been achieved in gene therapy for serious brain diseases has come with the release of the hard evidence that it works in Parkinson's disease.

Breakthrough in Parkinson's gene therapy
Patients were given injections of billions of copies of genetically altered viruses into parts of the brain

The world's first gene therapy for a brain disease brought about significant improvements in the mobility of Parkinson's sufferers. American doctors said it could also herald a landmark in the treatment of other neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer's or epilepsy but there was a lingering doubt that the reports by a dozen patients of improvements of up to 65 per cent in mobility could be anecdotal or due to the placebo effect.

Today, Prof David Eidelberg of the of The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research in Manhasset, New York, and colleagues report in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences evidence that the brain chemistry of the patients has been altered by gene therapy, ending concerns that the evidence that it worked depended too much on what the patients said and not enough on objective measures. "It is the first solid evidence of benefit from gene therapy. It is objective," Prof Eidelberg told The Daily Telegraph.

Parkinson's affects about 120,000 people in Britain, with 10,000 new cases diagnosed every year. It robs sufferers of the ability to walk and even eat, causes long motionless periods known as "freezing" as well as head and limb tremors. As the disease progresses, higher doses of drugs are required, leading to side-effects that include involuntary movements.

Sufferers include the former world boxing champion Muhammad Ali and the actor Michael J Fox.

*snip*

Michael J Fox is prolly twitching for joy after hearing this... right. I can't wait to see him come out in applause for this fantastic news. I know, don't hold my breath. Don't worry folks, I'm way ahead of ya here.

Then, in what may appear to be a completely unrelated issue, the Supreme Court has decided to take up the issue of socialist gun control in Washington D.C...

Supreme Court Agrees to Hear Challenge to DC Gun Ban
By Randy Hall
CNSNews.com Staff Writer/Editor
November 20, 2007

(CNSNews.com) - The U.S. Supreme Court announced on Tuesday that it will decide whether the ban on owning guns in the District of Columbia is constitutional, a pivotal case that could determine if the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution protects the right to own firearms.

At issue is a 31-year-old Washington, D.C., law banning handguns and requiring that all shotguns and rifles be kept unloaded and either trigger-locked or disassembled at all times. There is no exception for self-defense.

"The Bill of Rights does not end at the District of Columbia's borders, and it includes the right to keep and bear arms," said Alan Gura, lead counsel for the plaintiffs in Heller v. District of Columbia.

"After three decades of failure trying to control firearms in the District, it's time for law-abiding city residents to be able to defend themselves in their homes," Gura added. "We are confident the Supreme Court will vindicate that right in Washington, D.C., and across the nation."

Dick Heller, a District resident who works as an armed security guard during the day but is forbidden by District law from keeping a handgun at home to protect himself, explained: "I want to be able to defend myself and my wife from violent criminals, and the Constitution says I have a right to do that by keeping a gun in my home."

*snip*

For years now, D.C. has had one of the highest violent crime rates in the entire nation. Is it any wonder? They also have the most restrictive gun laws in the entire nation! Law abiding citizens are not permitted to bear arms in order to protect themselves or their families in the event of an armed attack!!! This is insanity, the perps know they have the upper hand and without a threat of an armed retaliation, they have become extremely emboldened. Likewise, in other cities around the country with similarly restrictive gun laws, violent crime and crime involving illegal weapons has skyrocketed. As the old saying goes... outlaw the guns and only outlaws will have them.

Here a bit of common sense for ya, folks...

PRO-GUN = PRO-LIFE

Today's Dumb Blonde Joke

*...and thought I would never get an opportunity to use a South Park picture 2 posts in a row :)

Study: Blondes Make Men Act Dumber
FOX News
Monday, November 19, 2007

While blondes may have more fun, a new study suggests that fair-haired ladies may be making those around them dumber.

Researchers found that men's scores on general knowledge tests drop when they are shown photos of blonde women, the Sunday Times of London reported.

Upon further inspection, it was found that the test subjects were not distracted by the light hair, but driven by social stereotypes to "think blonde."

*snip*

Just for the record: When a bunch of males with over-active hormones start thinking with their little head, "dumb" happens.

Gettin' Gobbles Good and Ready

I've been pretty busy here the past few days gettin' ready for the BIG chow-down this Thursday. You folks know how much I love a good Thanksgiving meal, should know that this year will be no exception. Although I don't plan on having as big a spread as I usually have, I still plan on bustin' a gut. I got my complimentary 20lb bird at the local market, all the veggies, and the fixins for a great sausage-apple stuffing. I'll prolly start cooking on Wednesday night and won't be finished until Thursday afternoon. I can't wait to dig in! Hell, I even got out the Christmas trimmings and started setting up outside so as to avoid decorating in the freezing cold weather we'll be expecting a week from now. Also, I have been keeping tabs on the recent news and I sincerely hope I'll get the opportunity to rant some before turkey day. You all will have to forgive me, but I just cannot stand being bummed out seeing our country going to hen in a hell basket and not have the time to post, even though that broiled bird is the only thing I should be focused on to avoid giving myself indigestion.

?!?! WTF ?!?!

Ok folks, I'm so F#@%in' mad I could drink a pint of turpentine and piss on house fire. Two days ago when the National Right to Life Committee indicated that it was going to endorse Fred Thompson for President, the story got all but a quarter of a day's worth of attention and then fell silent. Ok, perhaps they didn't want push a "rumor" to the headlines, and I can understand that. Then, yesterday they made the endorsement official, the story never made top headlines, had 15 minutes of fame and then appeared to die a quiet death. No flashing siren on Drudge's site, no "Breaking News" from FOX, absolutely NO mention at all over at World Net Daily (until I emailed Dave Kupelian and read him the riot act), and little if any mention or the story at most of the Christian news sites I am aware of.

So allow me to retort...

?!?! WTF ?!?!

Last night, in my frustration, I emailed David Kupelian and Joseph Farah over at World Net Daily to complain about their lack of attention on the Thompson/NRLC story:

Tue 11/13/2007 7:23 PM

Fred Thompson was endorsed by the National Right to Life Committee, the story has been out there since yesterday, and you fail to give ANY mention to it???

I thought you folks were solidly pro life. What happened???

A------ U-------
Montgomery NY

Although they never emailed me a response, they did finally post a link to the story - several lines down - and within three hours it was pulled back off to make way for the next news cycle.

Needless to say, I was pissed. I have been a reader of WND's website and a subscriber to "Whistle Blower" magazine for years. About a year or two ago I canceled the subscription because regular timely delivery was very sporadic. Regardless, they have always been "Johnny on the spot" when it came to reporting EVERY news story that dealt with the fight to end abortion and protect the sanctity of life. I have even contributed to several stories they later reported on and on the surface it appeared I had a good working relationship with editor David Kupelian. I must say that I am deeply saddened and disappointed with WND over this issue.

Then, this evening, I read this story over at the Washington Times about one of Mitt Romney's backers questioning NRLC's endorsement of Fred Thompson, suggesting that it was due to Thompson greasing the organization's palms!!!

Pro-life Thompson nod splits coterie
By Ralph Z. Hallow
November 14, 2007

Some pro-life advocates were astonished by the National Right to Life Committee's endorsement of Republican presidential hopeful Fred Thompson yesterday — a move they say puts politics over principle.

Paul M. Weyrich, president of the Free Congress Foundation, said the endorsement "makes no sense," and speculated that it had been motivated by money.

"I think in all probability the Thompson people were engaged with the National Right to Life people in financial dealing," said Mr. Weyrich, who has endorsed former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for the Republican nomination.

"In the past, the Republican Party has funded National Right to Life, and while the committee can raise money on its own, it needs funding" from outside sources.

"Fred Thompson has a 100 percent pro-life voting record in the U.S. Senate and is proud to have the endorsement of an organization that fights to protect human life," said Thompson spokesman Darrel Ng.

David O'Stein, the committee's executive director, also scoffed at the assertion.

"He's got to be joking," Mr. O'Stein said. "There is absolutely no financial arrangement between the committee and the Thompson campaign or Fred Thompson."

*snip

Oh... poor baby. Having a hard time figuring out why they didn't endorse the Republican version of John "flip-flop" Kerry??? Ok, time you had a history lesson, you little freakin' whiner...

Of course now Romney claims to be Pro-Life *snicker-snicker* ...yeah, right.

On the other hand, Fred Thompson has congressional record that is 100% pro-life.

The NRLC must have really had a tough time with their decision... NOT!

No donkey points for you, dumbass!

Gov. Spitzer gives up on license plan for illegal immigrants
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Tuesday, November 13th 2007, 9:48 PM

WASHINGTON - New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer has decided to abandon a plan to issue driver's licenses to illegal immigrants, officials familiar with the decision told The Associated Press Tuesday night.

The governor is due to meet Wednesday morning with New York's congressional delegation, many of whom openly oppose the program. Debate over the issue also has spilled into New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential campaign.

The governor's office signaled to New York lawmakers Tuesday that Spitzer will say at the meeting that he is shelving the plan and that immigration is a federal issue to be handled by Washington, according to congressional aides who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because no formal announcement had been made.

*snip*

Spitzer sinned against Democrat commandment #1: Thou shalt not damage the Queen of Filth's chances of becoming President of the United States. Shame on you, you bad boy. That's even worse than calling Bill a philandering POS (which just happens to be Democrat commandment #2).

What? Another reason to vote for Fred?

Word is out that Presidential candidate Fred Thompson is about to get one of the most important endorsement any candidate running for that office can receive.

Thompson to Be Endorsed by Right to Life
Nov 12 02:26 PM US/Eastern
By LIZ SIDOTI
Associated Press Writer

INDIANOLA, Iowa (AP) - Fred Thompson will be endorsed for president by the National Right to Life Committee, Republicans say.

The endorsement by the prominent anti-abortion group could give a boost to the campaign of the Republican former Tennessee senator, who has seen his poll numbers drop in recent weeks and has failed to become the consensus candidate for conservatives.

The decision was disclosed Monday by two Republicans who spoke on condition of anonymity in advance of the announcement that was expected Tuesday.

*snip*

The National Right to Life Committee has the support of millions of Americans fed up and determined to end a holocaust that has claimed nearly 50,000,000 unborn children since the Supreme Court's ruling on Roe v. Wade back almost 35 years ago. With the possibility of two Supreme Court vacancies upcoming within the next presidential term and a strong likelihood that two more constructionist justices would all but guarantee that terrible decision's reversal, those who have fought so long for this opportunity are not going to let it slip through their fingers. Despite attempts by other candidates and opponents who have tried to cast doubt on Thompson's pro-life record, the facts appear to speak clearly enough to have convinced the most highly recognized anti-abortion group in the nation to endorse the man they feel has the best chance of winning the 2008 presidential race and achieving that which they have fought so long to achieve. Will it mean the end of abortion in America? No, not by a long shot, but it would be a crushing defeat to the culture of death and would give us a strong foundation to build national acceptance of unborn children as the most innocent and defenseless among us who deserves our highest level of protection. For if not the defense of the most innocent and defenseless among us, whom should our President defend?

The National Right to Life Committee has indeed endorsed Fred Thompson for President of the United States of America, citing his long standing record on pro-life issues...

Giving credit where credit is due...

It isn't very often anymore that I give kudos to the History Channel. For the past several years they have been on what appears to be a ruthless campaign to bash Christianity, dispel God as a myth, showcase evolutionist and environmentalist propaganda, portray America as a country founded by a bunch of racists, bigots, rednecks and homophobes, and they have even gone as far as attempting to rewrite history in favor of leftist politics. However, where they often lack in terms of Christan and political accuracy, they more than make up for in their honor of the American soldier.

Just as they usually do every Veterans Day, Memorial Day, anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, anniversary of D-Day, and other similarly significant days, the History Channel does a commendable job in their honoring of those who have sacrificed so much for the sake of securing our freedom. Along with other shows like retired Gunnery Sgt. R. Lee Emery's military Q & A expo "Mail Call," "Dogfights," and the acclaimed docudrama "Band of Brothers," the History Channel has given an acceptable amount of balance to its otherwise atheistic and left leaning programing and for that reason, it has deservingly earned a coveted spot on my remote control's favorites list.

This evening's programing showcased one such fine example. In honor of present day veterans, The History Channel aired a program focused directly on our soldiers blogging from today's battlefields called "Band of Bloggers" which highlights their experiences and their contribution to keeping us informed on what's really going on over there... from the soldier's point of view. With the exception of one soldier being quoted saying that he was there to make sure we had cheap gas here at home, the remainder of the program was a glowing review of the purpose and commitment these people have to the difficult and dangerous missions they face every day.

Those of you who visit this website know that I provide a multitude of links relating to the various branches of the United States Military as well as several banners linking to blogs that I visit on a regular basis which focus on the daily experiences of our troops on the battlefield. Sites like the Mudville Gazette, the Command Post, Michael Yon, and Black Five go into the daily struggles, tragedies, accomplishments and victories of our brave warriors as they fight to make this world a safer place to live, free from the tyranny of those who wish to enslave us or murder us outright. It keeps me in touch with the realities our soldiers face and gives me an honest "boots on the ground" perspective straight from the front lines of the WOT. It also allows me the opportunity to give them the much needed support they deserve to complete their important mission.

God Bless and Protect Our Brave Troops!!!

BTW: Keep in mind this weekend as you are out and about to make a point of thanking a vet for their service and their sacrifice for our safety and our freedom.

Straight from the horses mouth...

Sorry for being away for the past few days, folks. I've been trying to catch up on sleep and have not had enough sufficient time to post. My bad. Anyway, this article from NewsBusters.org is on a topic that is dear to my heart and I just cannot let it pass without my attention:

Weather Channel Founder: Global Warming "Greatest Scam in History"
By Noel Sheppard | November 7, 2007 - 17:58 ET

If the founder of The Weather Channel spoke out strongly against the manmade global warming myth, might media members notice?

We're going to find out the answer to that question soon, for John Coleman wrote an article published at ICECAP Wednesday that should certainly garner attention from press members - assuming journalism hasn't been completely replaced by propagandist activism, that is.

*snip*

Here's part of the actual piece by John Coleman as posted at ICECAP:

Comments About Global Warming

..."It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming; It is a SCAM. Some dastardly scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long term scientific data to create in allusion of rapid global warming. Other scientists of the same environmental wacko type jumped into the circle to support and broaden the "research" to further enhance the totally slanted, bogus global warming claims. Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going. Soon they claimed to be a consensus.

"Environmental extremists, notable politicians among them, then teamed up with movie, media and other liberal, environmentalist journalists to create this wild "scientific" scenario of the civilization threatening environmental consequences from Global Warming unless we adhere to their radical agenda. Now their ridiculous manipulated science has been accepted as fact and become a cornerstone issue for CNN, CBS, NBC, the Democratic Political Party, the Governor of California, school teachers and, in many cases, well informed but very gullible environmental conscientious citizens. Only one reporter at ABC has been allowed to counter the Global Warming frenzy with one 15 minutes documentary segment."...

Right on! This is not rocket science folks. Many of us have known for years that climate is driven by the cyclical nature of the sun and this rabid environmentalism is nothing more than the new face of the communist movement. Their means of deception is to tear at the hearts and consciences of the feeble minded in order to gain unlimited power and control over capitalist societies. For crisakes, how many more bonafide experts have to step forward and dispel this lie before we all become enslaved by global warming BS?!?!

Go here so see all nine episodes of the series "The Great Global Warming Swindle" which debunks this ridiculous myth!!!

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Tonight's LMAO!!!

Obviously, the UK Telegraph has no clue when it comes to ranking the most powerful and influential conservative figures in American politics today.

I mean, come on, Rudy as the number one influential conservative in America??? And just who's arse did they pull that one out of??? They give Rush the number five spot??? They stick Ann Coulter all the way down near the bottom at number eighty four?!?!?!

It appears to me that our neighboring allies across the pond at the UK Telegraph thought it would be amusing to let a bunch of lefties determine who ranks where on this list of influential conservatives. This would be even more comical if it weren't so damned unbelievable.

For crisakes, Rudy Giuliani is the idealogical equivalent of Nelson Rockefeller (a textbook definition of a RINO - Republican in name only) and Rush Limbaugh is without a doubt the most undisputed conservative influence in America. With a weekly following of over 13 million listeners, Rush is the most listened to conservative talk show host and compared to Rush, Rudy is about as conservative as Hillary Clinton.

If that alone wasn't evidence enough that a bunch of libtards compiled this list, just consider where they stuck the conservative queen, Ann Coulter!!!

BTW, just where the heck on that brilliant list is Ambassador Alan Keyes? Hmmmm???
